CHANGE YOUR FOCUS FOR BETTER LONG-TERM WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS
Part of the reason we yo-yo diet is that we focus on the wrong thing. With a simple shift in your mindset, you could have better long-term success. It’s simple and easy to do.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR CURRENT FOCUS?
If you are like me then you go through periods of realizing you have gained weight, your clothes aren’t fitting right, and how awful you feel about it. We focus on everything we aren’t liking about our body and the number of extra pounds we have. The stress of noticing all of these unwanted aspects motivates us to begin making changes and then lose some weight.
As you start to lose some weight, you are feeling better and better which means the stress is lessening. This also means your chances of continuing with your new healthy habits drops until eventually you quit and start to gain the weight back.
LET’S CHANGE THAT FOCUS
Recognizing that we need to lose weight and not liking how we feel about it is important; otherwise we would not even care about losing weight. At this point, it’s important to change your focus to what you want. This would be your health and weight loss goals. I will explain more of how you can do this below.
LAW OF ATTRACTION
If you believe in the law of attraction, then you know that we construct our reality with what we focus on. It’s important for you to focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want. Whatever we focus on, negative or positive, we attract into our lives.
Changing your focus on what you want is an easy habit to add. When you decide you want to lose weight or achieve any healthy habit, write down in detail how you will feel, your weight, your clothing size or whatever applies. To add motivation, you could put up a picture of you at a healthy weight and feeling your best in places where you will see it often. You can also try pictures of you finishing races, skiing, confident in a bathing suit, or whatever reminds you of a time when you felt your best. You could even change your passwords to include your goal weight in them so that you have little reminders throughout the day. Another powerful method is to create a vision board and take time every day to focus on your goals. I have a vision board and love the feeling of crossing off the goals I have achieved.
I’m curious, do you practice any of these tips or have any advice that has helped you? Share in the comments below. If you found this post helpful, then please share it on Facebook. It would mean a lot to me. Thanks
